Breaking Ground with AI Video: Our VEO3 Findings
At Franchise Ramp, we’re always exploring new ways to push creative boundaries while delivering performance-driven results for our franchise partners. Recently, we ran in-depth tests with VEO3, Google’s text-to-video AI model, to see how it could help us create scalable, on-brand ad content for franchises.
Here’s what we discovered.
The Process: Testing Across Brands
We started with two test campaigns:
-
Club Pilates: We attempted cinematic, photorealistic storytelling around a 54-year-old woman discovering Pilates. This approach quickly revealed limitations with realistic motion (characters moving unnaturally) and character consistency (the same person looking different across shots).
-
Premier Martial Arts: For our second test, we shifted to a dynamic, action-oriented concept. We aimed to capture a student’s martial arts journey – from hesitant beginner to confident athlete. VEO3 generated cinematic energy and strong visuals, but we encountered similar issues with motion realism (kicks and strikes didn’t look natural) and continuity between shots. However, using the Frame-to-Video tool allowed us to improve consistency and stitch together sequences that felt more cohesive.
Here’s the final product:
Both tests required multiple prompt iterations and regenerations, but each offered valuable insight into how AI video could supplement franchise creative.
The Challenges:
Our testing surfaced a few clear challenges with VEO3 right now:
- Motion realism: Characters performing Pilates didn’t move believably.
- Character consistency: The same character often looked different across shots.
- Time consumption: On average, each ad concept required 2-4 hours of prompting, regenerating, and editing.
The Wins:
Despite the hurdles, we uncovered important advantages:
-
Animated/non-realistic styles shine: These not only look fresh but also grab viewer attention in competitive feeds.
-
Frame-to-Video tool: Feeding frames back into VEO3 improved consistency and made multi-shot storytelling possible.
-
Hybrid potential: Pairing AI-generated animation with live-action franchise footage can cut down on production costs while keeping ads unique and engaging.
Why This Matters for Franchises
Franchise marketing demands high-quality creative at scale. While AI video isn’t fully replacing live shoots yet, it’s opening doors to:
-
Faster, lower-cost B-roll generation
-
Fresh creative styles that stand out
-
A testing ground for concepts before full production
At Franchise Ramp, we’re integrating these findings into our Franchise Performance Creative™ system – ensuring that as the tech evolves, our partners stay ahead of the curve.
